The first series of heavy-duty DAF trucks
In 1957, DAF launched a series of heavy DAF trucks, the 2000 DO series, which would remain in production for 23 years and was intended for international transport. The 2000 DO was equipped with a heavy 11.1-liter Leyland diesel engine of 165 hp, an engine that DAF later went on to build under license and further developed into the current 12.6-liter diesel engine of 530 hp used in the DAF XF.
